Sample Scoring Options

Round Values

The round value is normally the number of points you get for each win in that round. Some pools use other formulas for scoring (see below) that involves the round value, like for example, the round value * team seed = points.

Upset Bonus (Seed Scoring)

To reward people who pick upsets use one of the options below.
OptionScoring Formula
Option 1
Option 2
Option 3
Option 4
Option 5
* Pts/Win = Round Value if higher seed team wins.

To make the points per win equal to the seed times the round, select Option #2 above and set the round values equal to the round number (e.g. Rnd of 64 = 1; Rnd of 32 = 2; Sweet 16 = 3; Elite 8 = 4; Final 4 = 5; Championship = 6).

Sample Tiebreakers

Pick-the-bracket pool standings are always based on Points first. After points, you have several options for tiebreakers.

Sample Pick Deadline Options

Use this page to set the latest time that people can make or change their picks (and their tiebreaker if applicable).

Deadline For Picks

Deadline For Tiebreaker (Total Points Scored In Championship Game)

Pool Manager Guide

The main Pick Deadline is the latest time people can enter picks. Normally you want to make this as late as possible (i.e. the first tipoff) to allow people the most time to make and change their picks without any manager involvement. At the same time the pool manager should instruct people to do their picks early and not wait until the last minute.

The Tiebreaker Points Deadline only applies to pools that use the Total Points Scored in the Championship Game tiebreaker (check your tiebreakers) Our advice is to use a Championship Game Tipoff deadline for this, otherwise you have to enter your point prediction before the teams are known.
